VANGARDIST Chief Editor Julian Wiehl about Keith Haring at Albertina Museum
Keith Haring was not only an artist, he also was an activist. He advocated for human rights, and later vehemently for the cause of HIV and of AIDS, the disease that killed him in the end. Today, nearly 30 years after he died, the disease can be medicated, but still we have to fight the stigmatization of these persons. Julian Wiehl, Chief Editor of VANGARDIST, therefore regards the exhibition in the Albertina not only as an art exhibition but as a sociopolitical statement.
