Egon Schiele - The Nude
Egon Schiele’s nudes are often the center of discussions that place him between depiction and pornography. The exhibition „Egon Schiele“ in the Albertina museum in Vienna sheds a new light on Egons Schiele’s nudes. According to the Albertina’s director Klaus Albrecht Schröder, especially the couple’s nudes have an existential dimension that should be the focus of attention rather than their erotic content. The represented couples in the pictures seem to be there more for themselves than for the other person, their indifference reminds of failed relationships and loneliness in our modern time.
