Ugo Rondinone - wisdom? peace? blank? all of this?
The Viennese Kunsthistorisches Museum opened its exhibition series at Theseus Tempel at the Volksgarten with the swiss based artist Ugo Rondinone. CastYourArt interviewed the artist at the temple.
With the exhibition "wisdom? peace? blank? all of this?" showing an artwork of Ugo Rondinone the Viennese Art Historical Museum opened its new exhibition series at the just renovated Theseus Temple. The exhibition series for contemporary art is curated by Jasper Sharp. Rondinone presents at his exhibition a mold of an old olive tree. The original - still growing in an olive grove in Sicily - is approximately 2000 years old. When one looks at the white painted mold at the Theseus Temple the tree seems to disappear in front of the white painted walls. It is like a very ethereal Object. It shows us at the same time the notion of time as a moment as well as endlessness. (text: Wolfgang Haas)
